Moises B. Hernandez

Pastor Moises was born on Feb, 12, 1930 in Santa Paula, California,

He was called home by the Lord on Jan. 4, 2014 at his home in Lompoc.  He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the general Convention in Riverside, Calif.  He received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues in 1954 at the general  convention  in Otay, Ca.  He was initiated into the ministry. The following , 1955, during the general convention that was celebrated again in Otay, Ca.  In 1957 he was ordained as a minister at the general convention in Phoenix, Arizona.  He served as a minister in the Apostolic Churches in Santa Maria, Ca. and Oceano, Ca.

In 1965 he went  to pastor the church in Lompoc, Ca.  At the time he went to Lompoc there were a total of three(3) members and the services were held in the home of Pastor Moises and his wife, sister Claudina.  Pastor Hernandez bought the property were the church now stands.  At the time of the purchase, there was a two (2) family dwelling.  The Hernandez family lived in the front section, paying rent to help with the mortgage payment, the other section of the house was rented out to another family to also help  with the mortgage payment.  Pastor Moises and sister Claudina would make tamales to sell, after having worked in their respective employments,  so as to raise funds to bulid a temple.

The Lord also used another family, brother Casimiro Rodriguez and his family, to help brother Moises in his work to build a church.  When the church as finally dedicated to the Lord, brother Moises was able to turn in the deed title to the general office of the Apostolic Assembly free of debt.   The Lord blessed Pastor Moises ministry and the church grew.   Pastor Hernandez continued to pastor the church in Lompoc until his retirement in 1999.

Pastor Moises also served as sector Supervisory Elder and Secretary for many years.

Funeral services will be held:
Tuesday, January 21st at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, January 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
The services will be held at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 500 E. North Ave. in Lompoc, CA.
