On behalf of the honorable General Board of Directors I inform you that the Lord has called Bishop Emeritus Manuel Soto to his presence yesterday Wednesday, June 9, 2016 at the age of 89.
Bishop Manuel Soto was a former Bishop Supervisor of the Central California District for 12 years from 1975 to 1983, and for a second period from 1987 to 1991. He also served as an Auxiliary Elder and a Pastor in Vista, 1st Fresno, Sanger and Clovis, California.
He was born in Buen Ventura, Chihuahua, México on January 8, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Miguel Domínguez Soto. At the young age of eighteen he obeyed the Gospel and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ on September 25, 1945 and three months later in December he was filled with the Holy Spirit.
In 1947 he would be initiated to the ministry in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. His wife was our highly distinguished sister Josefina. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage. He immigrated to the United States in the company of his family and in 1962 he founded the Apostolic Assembly in Clovis, CA. In San José, CA he would be ordained to the ministry at the XXII General Convention on August 8, 1964 by then Bishop President Antonio C. Nava and in 1966 he would be recognized as a Pastor of the Apostolic Assembly. Finally, after soldiering for forty-five years as a Pastor, he handed over the church of Clovis, CA in 2007.
Bishop Manuel Soto is survived by his sons Daniel, Joel and Alfred Soto and his eight grandchildren. We shall inform you of the funeral arrangements in the days that follow. We ask for your prayers for the entire Soto family that the Lord would send his sweet comfort by His Holy Spirit.
