As the news rolls in day after day reminding us that the coming of Christ is soon, now more than ever, we must reach out into the world and shine as a beacon of light. Cries of desperation can be heard around the world as the earth trembles. During these desperate times the Department of Social Assistance has made efforts to help our brothers in Christ. At the moment, we are in Mexico with their leadership providing help and supplies to those affected by the tremendous earthquake that shook Mexico City only days ago. The catastrophe claimed the lives of over 200 civilians and caused years of structural damage to the city itself.
In Puerto Rico, the situation has only escalated because of the desperation that the inhabitants of the island have developed. The entire island is without power and citizens are forced to stay indoors in hot buildings with no air conditioning. The airports in Puerto Rico are barely functioning, and citizens are desperate to leave the island and begin their restoration process.
Unfortunately, our churches have been greatly affected by the category 4 hurricane that began on September 20th. We have sent over 450 lbs. of supplies and 3 generators to Puerto Rico to help members of the Apostolic Assembly in need. The situation is extremely challenging, but we will do everything in our power to make sure our pastors, their families, and their members are covered with our prayers and support.
